    Hi was wondering if there is a short code to show one portfolio category only. i have set up multiple categories, but a few page require only a layout of one category. thakns so much lovely plug in by the way!!!

    1. admin says:

      Hello there,

      Actually for the time being, this feature doesn’t exist, but I have already put it in the back-log to include it in the next release.

      Currently, you can exclude “all” only from the category list, but you brought a very valid and viable feature, so I will keep you posted once we update our plugin.

      Thanks for your feedback

    2. admin says:

      Horray, the new 1.1.2 version of the plugin has resolved this issue of not able to generate multiple isolated portfolio menus.

      Now you can tag a subset of your portfolio posts with “team” and then another subset with “projects”, and then just select which portfolio subset you want to display using the new tag attribute fot the shortcode as follow:

      [waving theme="dark" width="250" tag="projects" showcat="true" all="true" /]

      This line of code will view the subset portfolio that is only related and tagged with “projects” word.

      Enjoy!

  2. Hi, I am a web developer and love this plugin, I have left a message over at the wordpress forum, would really love the feature as asked for above, we are going live on Friday and it would work so well. Great job by the way.

    1. admin says:

      Thanks for contacting us. It is always good to hear constructive feedback and new feature requests from active users like you.

      I will try to reply to your message ASAP.

      And we are glad that you have liked the plugin.

  3. Stephen Lussier says:

    Great plug-in, thanks! One question that I can’t seem to figure out — is there a way to rearrange the portfolio items in the main window so that more currently posted ones rise to the top? I’m also interested in if the single-gallery revision has been made, this would be an amazing add-on!

    1. admin says:

      The new version (1.1.2) has been released with the following enhancements:

      – Now you can generate as many autonomous portfolio lists as you want with the help of the new (tag) attribute for the shortcode.
      – Adding new capability to enable/disable categories menu.
      – Category menus are selected according to the tag filter the admin has enabled, so only related categories will be shown inside the menu.

      Enjoy it 🙂

  5. Hi Admin,
    Thanks for this nice plugin!
    I have a trouble with this plugin.
    i need to create the portfolio like your demo sample (2 type of portfolio).
    but after i using tag feature, the filter category button is not working.
    you can see the my page, the product page(using tag feature tag=”A,B”), service page(leave blank on tag=””)
    http://www.sncgroup.com.my

    Please advise, thank you so much.

    1. I solve this problem already. Thanks~^^

      1. admin says:

        Glad to hear that 🙂

        1. Dan says:

          Please share your solution. How did you manage ?

          1. admin says:

            Hello Dan,

            Please read the documentation carefully from the plugin page.

            You can tag any portfolio item and then you can select any desirable tag group you need to display.

            Let me know if you need any help.

        2. Dan says:

          I have 3 differents category too. I just want to display one by page. But after i using tag feature, the filter category button is not working. Please help me !!!

          1. Dan says:

            Sorry my explanation’s not really correct. I have 7 differents categories: 1 in a page, and the 6 others in another one page. What are the good shortcodes to display my portfolios, with the filter category button who’s working like your demo ? How shall I have to use tag ?
            Thanks a lot. And congratulations for your lovelly plugin.
            Dan

          2. admin says:

            This shortcode should fulfill your need:

            [ waving height=”200″ theme=”light” all=”true” showCat=”true” tag=”your-tag” /]

            Here is what I am using for the above demo page:

            [waving width="200" theme="dark" tag="develop" /]
            [waving height="150" theme="light" tag="architecture" /]

            You have to make sure that your tagging your portfolio items correctly though.

            Regards

  6. Hi, me again 🙂
    is it possible to change the filter buttons position?
    i would like to put it at the bottom of the galleries.
    Please advise, thank you so much.

  7. Hey,

    I Installed the plugin today and added a new portfolio item, still it doesn’t show in the portfolio items.
    Here’s how it looks right now – http://sumitraj.com/xoxo/

    and yes, i cant see an option to add a featured image. I’m using wp 3.9 btw.

    1. admin says:

      Hello Raj,

      Thanks for your feedback. Are you sure you have associated the portfolio items to their according categories ? It seems like there is no items listed at all.

    1. admin says:

      Ok actually the only problem you have is the missing of featured image.

      I will fix this ASAP and let you know so you can update the plugin for the fix 🙂

      1. Sure. Im waiting. I love the preview and would want to implement it on my website ASAP. 🙂

        Just drop me a mail when the fix is available. 🙂

      2. admin says:

        Update is complete.

        Please update your plugin into 1.1.5 and let me know if you start to get featured image to be shown.

        If you like the plugin please rate it, as this is the only mean that keep us developing opensource tools 🙂

  8. Ryan says:

    In the demo I notice some of the items when clicked display thumbnails to the left, description text to the right – while some have the thumbnails across the top and description text below. Currently all of mine are displaying with images on top and text below. How do you / can you manually change between the two? I think I’d prefer thumbs and text side by side vs. top and bottom.

  9. Mon says:

    Hi let me just say this plugin is so awesome! I just have one issue. The fonts used in the hover area clash with my overall font design. How can I make changes to the CSS used for the plugin?
    Thanks!

    1. admin says:

      Thanks,

      Add these lines to your CSS styles and customize there font-size and font-family as you like:

      md-content h3 { /* Custom style for the main title*/ }
      modal-waving-content { /* custom style for the body content */ }
      modal-waving-content h2 { /* custom style for the title header in the body content */ }
      … And so on

      I hope this will help

  10. Nicolae Urs says:

    First, I really like your plugin.

    But, as you can imagine because I am writing here, I have a problem with it. I don’t know how to put the rollover text (you have Social media, Marketing, Graphic design). I am sure there is something I am missing, but I just don’t know what.

    Thanks.

    1. admin says:

      The rollover text is represented from the title of each single portfolio item, so whenever you change an item title you should get this rollover test changed.

      Maybe your CSS is conflicting with the plugin Stylesheet though, and you couldn’t see the text because of the color, margin, or padding problem.

      Could you please submit the link so I can trouble shoot your problem ?

  11. Nicolae Urs says:

    Thank you for the comment. I was abroad and I am now back, trying to solve this annoyance.

    I cannot give you the link, because at the moment the site is only installed on my machine. I will try to troubleshoot some more. If I cannot make it work, I will ask for your help.

    Thanks.

  12. xadim says:

    Hi,

    Thanks for this plugin, I just wanna know you add the thumbnail inside the popup?

    1. admin says:

      Just click media, and then add gallary to the post and a code like this will be generated:

      [gallery ids="252,689,588,558,257,258,78,81,100"]

      Then wrap this gallary shortcode with the div that has hidden display style like this:

      <div style=”display:none”>[gallery ids="252,689,588,558,257,258,78,81,100"]</div>

      If you like the free plugin, please help us with good feedback.

      Thanks

  13. Hello,

    http://www.idream.in/projects/ is where I have put the shortcode. But it displays only the pictures and no additional features. Can you tell me what is the problem?

    Regards

    Parthajeet

    1. admin says:

      Hello Parthajeet,

      I believe there is a problem with your theme, as the <body> tag is not being closed in your website. Please check your theme header and footer and things will hopefully work for you.

      Regards

      1. Thanks for the response. I am not code savvy…can you please indicate what i need to look for in the theme header?

  14. Syed says:

    Hi! I am trying to use this plugin but I don’t know how to use tag…

    I can’t add tag to images in portfolio! How can I display them in different page?

    Help!!!!!

    Thank you so much!!!!

  16. reset says:

    hi admin,

    First of all, congratulations on your plugin. It is pretty awesome and looks really nice.

    And now the problem! hehe I can’t make it look like yours here (like “development”). The thing is i dont know what to do to make my pictures look like yours in the general portfolio. They are not in the centre, and they are different sizes.

    What should i do? resize them to specific pxls?

    take a look here please: http://diegoratia.com/portfolio-2/

    thanks in advance and excuse me for being such a retard, im sure it is easy..

    1. admin says:

      Hello Reset,

      You have done a good work so far, actually the plugin is so flexible that has two settings that you can change for your entier pictures, for instance you can use either add this attribute to the waving shortcode “width=200” to define the exact same width for all pictures, or use “height=200” to define the exact same height for all pictures.

      Hope this will help.

      Regards

      1. reset says:

        got it done! thank you very much..now Im going to try with gallery inside lightbox 🙂 nextstep

      2. reset says:

        Hey again!

        It looks better so far, but i have a final question. I see in the screenshoot of a lightbox of yours that the gallery you include is in the half right, and the text in the half left. I can’t figure out how to do that!

        I mean if I write the code you say it just shows the pictures toguether with the text in the same space (half left)

  17. wpnewbie says:

    I like this plugin very much, can it handle videos and youtube iframe embedd?

    Thanks.

  18. wpnewbie says:

    Hello, one more question if I may, can I have a text description underneath each thumbnail image? For example, the demo thumbnails you have at the top of this page, can I have add text underneath each of the thumbnail image?

    thanks

    1. Matt says:

      I am currently trying to figure this out, I know this was posted a while ago but do you remember ever getting it working?

  19. Kalyan says:

    Hi,

    Awesome plugin you have made. Just great. Congrats and many thanks for this. I got one question..

    Is there a way either via settings or css/php hack to control the animation of how the images come up when we click on a filter. Right now, all seem to come from the center and then they take to the full size. My issue is that the whole pages dances along with this ( I mean the footer keeps dancing)

    Many thanks once again.

    1. admin says:

      Hello Kalyan,

      There is only one popping effect currently.

      Can you share your testing page with us, to help you resolve this.

      Thanks

      1. Kalyan says:

        Thanks Admin for your reply. Yeah, I will try to give you a demo of this. Unfortunately, the site is currently on my local host but I plan to make it live next week. Then I will update this thread.

        At present, I just applied css display:none; to hide the filtering options altogether.

  25. Hi there. This is my favorite, easy to use portfolio, I only want to ask one question. Can I get it left justified somehow? This is what it looks like currently, using the height code: http://willowspringsbooks.org/catalog-test-2/ and of course as you can see this is the test page. This website is in its building stages.

    Good mornign. I found your plugin, and it’s amazing, I only have a question:
    How I can change and modify the “style” of the TAGS? I don’t like the uppercase n.n’

    Thanks so much, and great job!

    1. Peter says:

      Fiexd, in .css
      find “#da-thumbs li a div span {” and change “uppercase” to “none”

      To change the background grey, search:
      “#da-thumbs li a div {”

    Hello I love this plugin !! and thank your 100 times!!
    I have a little problem , when the page loads the waving portfolio, it automatically loads the links in the page as modal.
    for some reason , all the links are pre loaded on first initit like this
    ex :
    Accessoires mobiles …..

    And Even thought the content is hidden, the portfolio is not easily clickable (the items in the middle seems to be conflicting with the hidden div )

    Can you please help me ?? I am going crazy , is there anyway I can disable the modal ?
    Thank you in advance

  37. Tomas says:

    Hello! First big thanks for the great plugin, it’s the best from dozens I’ve tested. Still I have one annoying problem with usability – when I click on a category button, the page scrolls to the top. It happens on my page, but doesn’t happen on your demo. Maybe I should tweek the shortcode?

    1. Tomas says:

      Hello again. Adding second portfolio to the page resolved the issue but a new problem appeared. In the second portfolio I want to filter a portfolio items and show items with specific tags and used syntax: [waving height="200" theme="light" all="true" showCat="true" tag="Ameryka Południowa" clicking="true" /]

      But the buttons in the second portfolio cannot filter the items as it does in the second portfolio in your demo. Can you give me example of the string I should use to have the same usability as in the demo?

      Thanks in advance!

  38. Tomas says:

    Hi, adding second portfolio to the page resolved the issue.

  39. Madusanka says:

    Hi,

    This is a very valuable plugins. Thanks. I need to show only 8 portfolios on my home page. when adding new one can be able to display within that 8. so is there any way to do it.

    Thank you.

  40. Nice plugin and I think I can make good use of it on a client’s site. However, I don’t think it’s a good practice to use the “body” and “a” tags in your own style sheet. I had to jump through some hoops to keep them from overwriting my styles throughout the site. Can those elements be moved into styles that are unique to Waving?

    Thanks.

    1. admin says:

      Thanks for your feedback,

      It has been fixed in version 1.2.4.1, along with enhancing the overall style of Waving Portfolio.

  42. Clarence says:

    Hi this is awesome plugin can you tell how can i change the category button color,
    thank you looking forward more powers to you!

    1. admin says:

      Hello Clarence,

      For changing the style of button you have to go to CSS and change colors according to your need.
      http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/waving-portfolio/assets/css/style.css

      And then find at line 270, change the background-color as you deem suitable:

      button.waving-button {
      	-webkit-transition: all 200ms cubic-bezier(0.390, 0.500, 0.150, 1.360);
      	-moz-transition: all 200ms cubic-bezier(0.390, 0.500, 0.150, 1.360);
      	-ms-transition: all 200ms cubic-bezier(0.390, 0.500, 0.150, 1.360);
      	-o-transition: all 200ms cubic-bezier(0.390, 0.500, 0.150, 1.360);
      	transition: all 200ms cubic-bezier(0.390, 0.500, 0.150, 1.360);
      	display: block;
      	margin: 3px auto;
      	max-width: 180px;
      	background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0);
      	border: none;
      	text-decoration: none;

    Hi, I’m having a issue with tags. I have eight portfolio items with a specific tag, but it only shows three and without categories buttons.
    If I delete the “tag=” attribute it shows everything correctly. What am I missing here?

    1. admin says:

      Hello Gisele,

      I recommend you to use the TinyMce shortcode builder, it will make your life much easier. Notice that there is a more stable update that has just been released today (1.2.4.5).

      Best of luck 😉

  44. Dessa says:

    How can i separate categories? What i want is i don’t like to show all categories. In one page i want different categories

    1. admin says:

      Hello Dessa,

      Actually you can create multiple Portfolio Shortcodes in the same page. What I recommend is to use one single Tag as parent node, and then give the items having the same Tag different categories; Finally you can insert multiple shortcodes with [waving-portfolio tag=”your-desired-tag”]. this way you can list hundreds of Portfolios with different categories.

      Best of luck 😉

  45. Chris says:

    I love the flexibility of the plugin but am having one problem with category hierarchy. Essentially, I have 4 parent categories, and I only want the child categories listed for specific sections (e.g. Consumer tech has: mobile, devices, apps, gaming; and Enterprise Tech has: SAAS, Cloud, software, analytics…) How do I get the parent categories to populate their child categories?

    1. admin says:

      Hello Chris,

      I recommend to use mixture of category and tags, make one parent Tag for set of categories and then select this tag to have your item listed beautifully.

      Let us know if you need any further help

  46. Antonio says:

    Among all the free portfolio plugin, this is the best by far. Although I’m having some problem with the responsive layout of the lightboxes when there too much text in it and the scrolling bar goes well beneath the screen, especially in smaller screen like laptops and netbooks.
    I opened a ticket in the wordpress.org website. Would you mind giving it a look? https://wordpress.org/support/topic/modal-waving-content-not-responsive?replies=1

  47. Irfan says:

    Hi Plugin author
    This is a nice plugin and after testing a dozen others, I’ve finally settled with this. Only problem is the hyperlink opens in the same window. Is there a way to set the hyperlink to open in new tab or window?
    Thank you in advance.

    1. admin says:

      Hello Irfan,

      Thanks for your feedback. We have considered it, and include in the 1.2.4.5. Now you can enable opening link in new page.

      🙂 Enjoy

  48. Marc Tyrrell says:

    Hi Admin,

    I just (June 3, 2016) downloaded and installed the plugin. When I go to use the shortcode editor (waving portfolio builder), it doesn’t generate any shortcode at all, and certainly doesn’t insert it. Any ideas on what might be happening?

    On a related note, do you have any actual documentation for the plugin? Thanks

    1. Marc Tyrrell says:

      Hah, solved it. I was using the Black Studio Tiny Mice Editor widget and that was blocking it.

  49. Waving Portfolio is a best free plugin for portfolio. I use it in my wp site. Love it. Thanks Dear Author to make this awosome plugin for us.

  50. Robert says:

    Hi,

    Thanks for the plugin

    Question:

    How can I make a portfolio ONLY for web projects?

    I mean, when ppl click in the image of the grid send them to the site of that particular project.

    Thanks in advance

    1. admin says:

      Hello Robert,

      When you create new portfolio item from the backend dashboard, there is an option to add custom hyperlink for that specific item. Just enable the option and put in your URL and the porfolio item will become clickable.

      Thanks for asking

    I wanna ask how I can erase these two lines in the gray background color?
    Thanks! 🙂

      Hello GL,

      You can go to plugin folder, and then assets/css/style.css:

      Search for “#da-thumbs li a div span” and remove the following two lines:

      #da-thumbs li a div span {
      display: block;
      text-transform: uppercase;
      font-weight: 400;
      color: rgba(255,255,255,0.9);
      text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.2);
      border-bottom: 1px solid rgba(255,255,255,0.5);
      box-shadow: 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.1),0 -10px 0 rgba(255,255,255,0.3);

      margin: 40px 20px 20px;
      padding: 10px 0;
      }

      Can we ask you a favor? Please if you like the plugin, give it a rating in the following link:

  52. good day
    Congratulations on the wonderful plugin, it really helps me a lot in my design projects. I have 3 situations:
    1- Although I have the option to “show categories”, the site does not allow me to see them.
    2- the site showing me all projects in the portfolio, can the plugin enable the function or the “show more” button?
    3 How to select a function in which the plugin allows me to display a certain category by default?
